| | EXCITING DEVELOPMENTS ANNOUNCED FOR 2009 | A number of new facilities will be developed at Rowville Secondary College in 2009. These include:
1. Vikings Futsal Soccer Pitch: An artificially grassed full sized soccer pitch which will be able to be divided by a netting system into six futsal (small sized soccer games) will be developed with fencing and artificial lighting. It will become the Soccer home of our Sports Academy, thus eliminating the need to transport students to sporting venues as is the case now. At the same time it will be a valuable addition for all of our mainstream students doing physical education classes and interschool sport. The facility will be used outside of school hours by the Vikings Futsal Association (www.isport.com.au) as a Centre of Excellence and for community participation in the rapidly growing sport of Futsal. This facility should be completed early in 2009. The school is very grateful to Vikings Futsal for their sponsorship of this facility, which will be at no cost to the school.
2. Health and Fitness Centre: RSC has reached an agreement with US-Aust Management Pty Ltd, who are our partners with the Eastern Campus Swimming pool, to develop a Health and Fitness Centre. It is envisaged that this facility will incorporate a weights room, circuit area, cardio facilities, work out class, and spin room together with change facilities, administration and childcare facilities. Like RSC's other partnerships this arrangement will provide facilities for our Sports Academy and mainstream students during the school day and will be utilised by the wider community after school hours. Again it is planned that the facility will be fully operational as early as possible in 2009, pending departmental documentation.
