RSC NEWS AND EVENTS
Congratulations to RSC's VCAL students
Congratulations to Rowville Secondary College's VCAL students, who were recently nominated for the Knox Environmental Heroes award. Under the guidance of teachers Jane Zaal and Melanie Wright, the students have been involved in environmental initiatives such as land revegetation, with their work helping to protect more than 25 different plants and enhancing the environment for animal life.

2008 Rock Eisteddfod
Congratulations to everyone involved in the 2008 Rock Eisteddfod. RSC competed in the heats during August, with Adele Smith, Carla Pincombe, and Claire Travers coordinating their efforts. The group were thrilled to take home three awards for choreography, costume and use of the stage.

Farewell Motoyama Students
The College community has enjoyed an outstandingly successful visit from our Japanese sister school, Motoyama Junior High School. Eight students from the school and four of their teachers took part in a wide range of classes and activities at the college. Our students have truly benefited from exposure to these events too and have shown a genuine interest. They have been attentive, respectful and involved, gaining educationally and culturally from the experiences. The visitors have been very fortunate in being made a welcome part of eight of our families. They have undertaken a wide variety of activities with them, and in six short days amazingly strong bonds have been formed, which are likely to last well into the future.

Rowville Students Among the Happiest in Victoria
The recent Attitudes to Schools Survey demonstrated that Rowville Secondary College students experienced extremely high levels of satisfaction with their education, with student morale and learning levels significantly elevated. Student confidence and teacher effectiveness were shown to be among the highest in the state. Survey results indicated that students felt connected to their peers, confident in their curriculum, and stimulated by their learning environments. The Attitudes to School survey is an annual student survey for Year 5 to Year 12 students offered by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development to assist schools in gaining an understanding of students' perceptions and experience of school.
